I have compiled the requests, but I'll leave them for tomorrow or teusday and have another look at them before I send them, to make sure nothing is missing. The community admins have still not approved our recruitment, so the new channel admins might not be added until the official forum is up. Though I heard it's about to be finished, so hopefully we don't have to wait several months like the last time.

In case someone wonders about the empty slots in HLR1 & HLR2: Yes, we've actually decided to cut down on the staff. We've managed with half the EUHLR team for several months, so I don't think 15 mods are necessary. HLR5 has in average twice as many ban requests per month as HLR1, and in general the closer you get to HLR1, the less ban requests there are, so we thought the distribution of moderators should reflect that at least a little bit better than previously.


I imagine there are a bunch of people who are disappointed about not being chosen. I suppose I owe you to tell a bit about how the procedure worked:

There were three people involved in reviewing the applications: chrismokvack, EU.onesixeight and 0doaker. Each of us read every application once. After having read an application, we categorized it with one of three different labels: [good], [bad] and [intermediate]. So when we were finished, each application had one rating from each of us. There were a total of 48 applications. Exactly half of them received [bad] from all three of us. The remaining ones had either 3 [good], 3 [intermediate], or a mix of [good] / [intermediate], [intermediate] / [bad] etcetera. One application actually had one [good], one [intermediate] and one [bad]. Shows how differently we judge.

We started out by checking the applications with 3x [good], but we also considered some of the ones with less than 3x [good]. I'll reveal that even though we received more 3x [good] applications than number of moderators we recruited, all of the people we ended up choosing did not actually have 3x [good] on their applications. But if you didn't get a [good] from at least one of us you were more or less immediately counted out. The total number of applications with at least one [good] was 8. So that what I wanted to arrive at is that we were not at all dead certain about who to pick. There were 8 applications to consider but only 4 open slots. It looks like we went with familiar faces in the end. So that's your best bet if you want to try your luck again next time: Be visible on the forum by posting lots of (good) ban requests and perhaps even commenting some of the less routine-like ban requests and unban requests posted by other users if you have something worth saying. All accepted ban requests aren't good ban requests. All correct ban requests aren't good ban requests. I'll leave it up to you to figure out what a good ban request is.

Finally I want to say this: The last time we recruited a lot of disappointed people contacted me and wanted to know why they didn't get choosen. I WILL NOT comment our choices, so don't bother. Nor will I say how many [good], [intermediate] or [bad] someone got. As matter of fact I suppose I won't answer anything related to applications at an individual level, so don't ask!
