Forum rules discussion thread Empty
PostSubject: Forum rules discussion thread   Forum rules discussion thread EmptyMon Apr 18, 2011 8:43 am

As recent event showed, we need forum rules. Here is my proposal.
Every suggestion is wellcome. Revision of the english language used here is wellcome too

  • Rules of the fairplay forum, Europe section

    • All threads should be in the correct subforum. The users must read carefully the rules and the description of every subforum before they post.

      • All ban requests should be put in the right subforum, depending on the nature of the request - HLR1-5 or in the abuser requests subforum
      • All unban requests should be put in the unban requests subforum
      • All other threads should be posted in the general europe subforum

    • The posts of the users must show respect towards the other users. Offensive, enraging and irritating posts shall not be tollerated and will be deleted.

    • The users should not forget that the forum is used by vast audience, which includes under aged people too. Posting images(with [img] tags) with pornographic material is not allowed.

    • [b]It is recommended to post the text in clear format. It is not recommended to use too many emoticons, capital letters(capital letters are accepted in internet AS SHOUTING), too many punctiation marks(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, ?????????????????, etc) or to wRiTE LiKe THiS

    • The titles of the threads should be as clear as possible.
      • Examples for bad titles are:
        • Help!
        • Need unban
        • Ban noob

      • Examples for good titles are:
        • How to turn autosave feature on?
        • Unban EU.Street_Dog
        • Ban 0doaker

    • Spamming is not allowed. Spamming means short and useless or repeating posts and off-topics, advertisement links, links to sites with refferals system, threads like "Good morning", "How did you sleep", "Apple vs pear", posting unrelated links or immages etc.
It's recommended also to use edit feature and not to write new post after your last post

    • Bumping old thrads with useless comments only to gain posts is not allowed

    • It is strictly forbidden to post links to malicious software or viruses. If you spot such case make sure you warn any of the moderators of the section right away.

    • The moderators reserve the right to remove or edit posts all the time.
Determining what is spam, offensive post, etc is up to their judgement, not up to the users' judgement

    • The rules above are valid for PMs as well.

    • This is international forum. Only english language is allowed
      • It's recommended to use proper english

    • It is not allowed to write any threads or posts which contain any form of racism or which foment discrimination, hatred and ethnic intolerance

    • Users which foment hate towards other users or group of users will be banned directly.

    • Any form of unofficial advertisement is not allowed(this includes links to other wc3 platforms, refferal sites and others)

    • It is not allowed to edit already edited threads/posts by the moderators

  • Policy

    • This forum uses infraction system. There are 2 types of infractions - red and yellow. Yellow infractions are only warnings, when every red infraction gives you 1 point. Accumulating points will result in:

      • 3 points = 5 Days ban
      • 4 points = 7 Days ban
      • 5 points = 2 Weeks ban
      • 6 points = 1 Month ban
      • 7 points = Forever ban

    • For nearly insignificant violation of the rules users are given one yellow infraction.

    • For minor violation of the rules users are given one red infraction.
Such violations include, but are not limited to:

      • Spam
      • Disrespectful behaviour
      • Using other language than english
      • Repeating multiple times the offences of 2.2

    • For major violation of the rules users will be given 3-6 red infractions.(5-30 days ban)
Such violations include, but are not limited to:

      • Any form of intollerance and racism
      • Heavy flames
      • Insulting moderators
      • Posting links to any hacks for DotA, WC3 or Garena
      • Repeating multiple times the offences of 2.3

    • For considerable violations of the rules users will be given permanent ban - 7 infraction
Such violations include, but are not limited to:
      • Spamming advertisements for other webpages/game platforms
      • Spam bots
      • Posting child pornographic materials or any other perverted material that directly violates the laws of the EU
      • Posting links to infected files with viruses or malicious software
      • Posting links to phishing sites
      • Repeating multiple times the offences of 2.4

    • Any atempt to avoid the ban by creating new accounts will result in extended ban to the old account and ban to the new account

    • Forum bans are not related to garena bans. Being banned in the forum doesn't mean you will be banned in garena or viceversa

    • If a user believes he has been banned wrongly, he should send PM to EU.Street_Dog or 0doaker. They have the last word and they decide how the problem will be solved. They should not be bothered with insignificant matters and should be reached only if the problem is extreamly important

  • Before proceeding to use the forum users agree that:

    • They have read carefully and understood the rules writen above
    • They have read carefully and understood the rules regarding EUHLR from that thread - http://fairplay.garena.com/showthread.php?60-Europe-DotA-High-Level-Room-Rules
    • They have read carefully and understood the following guides:

      • How to post a correct ban request - http://fairplay.garena.com/showthread.php?64-How-to-post-a-correct-ban-request
      • How to post a correct unban request - http://fairplay.garena.com/showthread.php?63-How-to-post-a-correct-unban-request
      • How to post a correct ban request. Hack related offences - http://fairplay.garena.com/showthread.php?61-How-to-post-a-correct-ban-request.-Hack-related-offences

and AGAIN way too long

I know, I myself tend to long posts, but maybe we could first start talking about the most important things on forum.

I will try to figure some rules out myself before I read your suggestion. we will see what I missed then.

Seriously, how can you blame me for too long posts and not learn from it? do we make those rules to defend our reactions or do we want them to be read? if we want our users to read them, they should be short.

easy thing: who is smart enough to get through that wall, doenst need it. all the retarded nabs who are willing to break them wont read this wall anyway. so we can as well let it be.

This is totally wrong point.
We make rules to make the things clear. And things are just too complicated to be put in one short sentence.
If we make short rules and for example get rid of the child porn stuff, tomorrow somebody will come, will post it, someone will delete it and then people like you will come and say "nowhere in the rules it's said that posting child porn is forbidden"(don't get me wrong - they are right to do so), so we will have to add it.
The rules are long for a reason. If we start with short rules in one year they will get bigger in time. But if we start with good rules that embrace almost every case we might not need to update them so often.

And moreover - if somebody is unable to read few pages - well, then he is free to play tetris on single player or not complaining when getting banned.

And rules are not only for the players, they are for us, to regulate our actions. In every country there are tons of laws and I doubt somebody have read them all. But nevertheless they exist and noone even is thinking to make them "shorter" just because there are people too lazy to read them.

The very same post goes for the other thread about euhlr rules, I am just too tired to copy it there too

I don't think that informing users about our infraction policy is necessary , is it?

We can simply say that users who violate the above-mentioned rules will be given infractions than can either be warnings or ban penalties depending on the violation and that , once again as you said , is up to our judgement.

Regarding everything else - it's okay , just some grammar mistakes that can easily be fixed by gaz.

Yes it is a bit too long. we could leave out the explanations WHY something is forbidden. i mean its our forum, we decide whats good and whats not. the users dont have to understand this, they just have to follow it. for example:

This is international forum. Only english language is allowed
It's recommended to use proper english

=> Write english only in the forum

same for the child porn, why we shall explain that there are some underaged kids here?

But i think this should cover all of the cases could happen.
maybe improve the style a bit?leave some lines out to make it look shorter or something Smile
good job

Nice job with the forum rules, we really needed it.
I do not think it is long, I actually agree with Yavor in that the rules should be complete and cover most of the points no matter how long it is, so that we do not leave a chance for anyone to go around and say "it is not in the rules"
If they cant read the whole rules, it is their problem not ours, it is like when you setup a program there is a long page of agreement that you have to accept to use the program, but it is really up to you to read it or not.
