last major update on 02-06-2011
last minor update on 03-26-2011

  • Leaving is not allowed when game status is 5v5, 4v5, or 4v4.

    • Rule #1 applies regardless of what the situation in the game is and regardless of how short or how long the game has lasted. Even if you leave only a few seconds before the game ends, you will get banned!
    • Someone who has been afk/idle for a total of 5 minutes or more counts as leaver when determining game status, but remember that you need to save the replay to prove it!
    • Rule #1 is the ONLY rule that does not apply in other game status except 5v5, 4v5 and 4v4. If game status is something else and you do not wish to continue playing according to the rules, LEAVE instead of going afk, idling or ruining the game on purpose!

  • Remaking

    • You may remake/leave a game if game status is other than 5v5 and has lasted no longer than 7 minutes (scoreboard time).
    • Users who have been afk/idle for a total of 5 minutes or more count as leavers when determining game status.
    • You are not allowed to forfeit.
    • At any time during a game you can vote to remake/cancel a game. In order to remake/leave the game, the majority of all players must agree, including those in the opposite team.
    • Only users who confirm that they wish to remake/cancel the game count. Users who do not reply count as having voted to play on.
    • If you remake/leave a game after a voting, you MUST save the replay in order to be able to prove that the majority of all players agreed, otherwise you will get banned if someone reports you!
    • The host of a game has no special rights to decide when to remake/cancel a game. Hosts remaking a game without fullfilling the criteria stated above will be counted as LEAVERS!

  • Afking/Idling is not allowed.

    • Afking/idling is banable in the following situations:
      • If you get kicked by other players in the game for being afk
      • If you stand afk or idle for 5 mins or more consecutively (Idling means to stand still with your hero, or to move around in your base (or anywhere else) without doing anything to help your team.)
      • Any other situation, when you stay afk or idle for more than 5 min in total, you might get banned after deep analysis of the game. Some of the things that will be considered are:
        • The overall amount of time you were afk
        • How many times you were afk
        • How much impact you afking/idling time had on the game

    • You MUST keep playing to the best of your ability until the endgame scoreboard appears!
    • If you have an emergency that forces you to go afk, like spilling soda on your keyboard, or feeling a sudden urge to visit the restroom, make sure to tell ALL the players in the game where you are going and when they might expect you to return. If you were afk for a total of 5 minutes or more, make sure to SAVE the replay in case someone reports you. If you cannot present the replay, you will NOT be unbanned!
    • If you for some reason have to be afk, do not move around with your hero to avoid being booted. It's up to your teammates if they wish to wait for your return or not. You cannot avoid ban by "dodging" the afk timer.
    • Ifking/idling is bannable if the upper criteria are fulfiled, regardless of the game status. If game status is other than 5v5, 4v5 or 4v4 leave instead going afk for you will be banned

  • Backdooring is not allowed

    • Backdooring means attacking an enemy building while there are no allied creeps nearby. Creeps are considered to be "nearby" a tower if they are within the tower's attack range.
    • Another easy way to know if you're backdooring or not: If the building regeneration system activates when you start attacking the building, that most likely means that you are backdooring and should stop attack the building immediately. Exceptions are:
      • If friendly creeps are near any of the towers guarding the entrances to the enemy base (tower #3 on the lane), or deeper inside the enemy base, you may attack any building inside the enemy base, including the third tower on each lane. This rule applies even if you enter the base from a direction where there are no friendly creeps.
      • If you approach an enemy building together with a friendly creep wave, but your creeps choose to walk past the building and attack the heroes or creeps behind it rather than attacking the building itself, you are still allowed to attack that building.
    • If you want to attack the first or second tower on a lane, you must approach those towers with a friendly creep wave for each individual tower. You are for example not allowed to attack the first tower on the bottom lane without creep support, even if a friendly creep wave has entered the enemy base at another lane.
    • If you have started attacking a building you may continue attacking it as long as you don't leave the area immediately next to the building, even if all your creeps have perished.
    • If all your creep support is gone and you leave the building, you must wait for a new friendly creep wave before you may attack it again.
    • Player-controlled creeps do NOT count as creep-support.
    • You may attack deniable towers (below 10% health) at any time.
    • You may attack any creep at any time.

  • Purposeful game ruining is not allowed.
    You are not allowed to:

    • Run into enemy heroes or towers with the intention of dying on purpose
    • Steal items from your teammates (But you may steal enemy items!)
    • Destroy items belonging to yourself or your team (but you may destroy enemy items!)
Exception: You may destroy an item of small value in order to fill that item's slot with something else, like aegis from Roshan or an item from a courier, as long as you don't do it with the intention of ruining the game.
    • Refuse to help your team defend your base from enemy attacks as an attemp to make your team lose the game faster.
    • Use spells such as toss, test of faith and Ezalor's teleport to purposely ruin the game. (Like teleporting teammates without their agreement or tossing allied heroes into enemy team for no reason at all.)
    • Do anything else to help your enemies, make your team lose faster, or in any other way ruin the game on purpose.

  • Intentional bug abusing is not allowed

  • Using hacks is strictly prohibited

    • A hack is every program/script/operation that gives you advantage in the game, which:
      • Manually or automatically changes any .dll file
      • Uses memory editing techniques
      • Uses packet sniffing techniques
      • Changes any file in \garena or \warcraft3 directory

    • Changing textures is not allowed, except in the cases when it does not affect the gameplay in any way(the bannable changes include, but are not limited to dota maps, that show tower range, trees without textures etc, but do not include wc3 backgroud changes or similar)
    • Usage of any hack will result in a one-year ban from all Europe DotA High Level Rooms
    • If you use drop hack or in any other way kick someone from your game you will be penalized with a one-year ban from all EHLRs
    • If you use lag hack or in any other way cause other players to lag on purpose you will be banned for one year from all EHLRs
    • Using a namespoofer or in any other way altering your username inside Warcraft III will result in a one-year ban from all EHLRs. (You are allowed to use the gold member feature "set custom game name for Warcraft III"!)
    • If you use an inofficial version of Garena (cracked version / Garena hack etcetera) you will be banned for 365 days from all EHLRs.
    • Using IconHack will result in 10 days ban from all EHLRs.
    • Posting links to hacks or other fraudulent content will result in 30 days ban from all EHLRs.
    • Using programs that remap keys in any way is not bannable.

  • Host bots are not allowed

    • Beware that some host bots have features that will be treated as hacks in EHLR. If you use such featurs you will be banned for 365 days from all EHLRs!
    • Features that will get you banned for 365 days from all EHLRs include but are not limited to:
      • Kick featues
      • Features that allow you to change the name of yourself or other users inside Warcraft III
    • You will get banned for a short duration even if you only use innocent features.

  • English

    • In the Europe Dota High Level Rooms we speak English in the main chat. All other languages might result in kick/ban. EHLR moderators are NOT required to give a warning before they kick or ban. You are supposed to know the rules!
    • Speaking non-English ingame is allowed, but please respect the other players! If some players in your team don't speak your language you might want to consider speaking English in case they find your non-English annoying.
    • Remember that inside a Warcraft III game you can use -hhn and then /ignore username to ignore incoming messages from a specific user.

  • No Flooding, advertising or spamming

    • Spamming includes but is not limited to posting empty messages, senseless letter combination or repeating the same phrase more than two times.
    • Do not announce your game more often than once every minute!

  • Disrespectful behaviour is not allowed

    • You must respect everybody, regardless of their nationality, gender, age or any other classifications
    • You are not allowed to insult other users for any reason whatsoever. Do NOT flame!
    • Keep in mind that even words such as "noob" and "stfu" might be offensive to some users!
    • Remember that if someone bothers you inside a DotA game, you can use -hhn and then /ignore username in order to filter out messages from that particular user, but that does NOT justify flaming. If you answer to him with flames you might get banned.

  • Leaver Items

    • If someone leaves you may share the leaver's items among the team, teamsell them or keep them on the leaver hero, but when deciding how to distribute the items you must stick to the following rules:
    • If you want to take an item from a leaver, you must first ask your teammates for permission. You must wait at least 30 seconds to give your allies the chance to answer. You may only take the item if nobody in your team has given a negative answer after 30 seconds or if everyone in your team has given an affermative answer.
    • If your team cannot agree about what to do with the items on the leaver, they must be teamsold.
    • Teamselling means to sell the items using the leaver hero.
    • If two players struggle with one another about taking an item, they might both get banned, regardless of what has been agreed! If you said no and someone tries to take the item anyway, don't try to prevent him from taking it, report him instead!
    • You are always allowed to teamsell leaver items without asking your teammates, as long as you do not struggle with another player. Tell your team if you don't want them to take the items! If someone tries to take an item anyway, report him!
    • Keep in mind that by teamselling items you lose half the item value! Often it is better to distribute the items among your team, if you can come to an agreement.
    • You may always use a leaver hero, no matter what happened to his items.

  • Proving your innocence

    • In EHLR, as opposed to courts of law, we follow the "guilty until proven innocent" principle. If you get wrongfully banned, it is YOUR responsibility to prove your innocence. The reason for this is that if we were to make a full investigation for every single banrequrest, we would need to quintuble the number of EHLR moderators at the very least. It's simply not sustainable. Below you can read what type of proof you need for the most common situations:
    • In addition to the things that follow, you must ALWAYS save the replay for every situation where you might get reported. Most of the time the replay cannot prove you crashed or disconnected, but it can often show that there was no apparent reason for you to leave on purpose, so it can be a good complement to screenshots. But remember that presenting only the replay is not good enough to get you unbanned if you disconnected or crashed, you need screenshots too!
    • Often when you disconnect or have a Garena crash you won't be able to save the replay manually, but it will always be automatically saved as lastreplay.w3g unless your pc shuts down in the middle of the game. Therefore, if you aren't able to save the replay manually, you should go to your Warcraft III folder and rename the lastreplay.w3g file to something else so that it doesn't get overwritten the next time you play.
    • If you disconnect, you must take a screenshot of the "you have been disconnected" message.
    • When your Garena crashes, most of the time the only thing that will happen is that you disconnect, so you can treat that the same way as disconnecting. When you get the error message, do NOT press any of the options on the message! If you do that, your Warcraft III might close down. Instead, you should alt-tab back to Warcraft III and take a screenshot of the "you have been disconnected" message.
    • For some people, Warcraft III automatically closes when Garena crashes. If that happens, you should take a screenshot of the error message. Beware that this kind of evidence is very weak, as it's almost impossible to know that the screenshot wasn't taken at another time or by another user. Therefore you should do everything you can do show that the screenshot was really taken at the time your game was played. If you use Windows, you can do that by opening the clock & date display in your bottom right corner before you take the screenshot.
    • If your Warcraft III crashes, you should take a screenshot of the error message, but make sure your Garena is open in the background so that we can see which room you were in and that the screenshot was really taken by you. In addition to that, it's a very good idea to open the clock & date panel as described previously.
    • If you were banned for afking even though you told everyone you were forced to leave your computer due to an emergency, you must present the replay.
    • If you were reported for remaking/leaving a game according to rule #12 you must present the replay.
    • If your computer reboots or if you have a power failure so that you cannot save any evidence, you should try to contact the other players in the game and ask them to give you the replay.
    • If you were reported for leaving a game in which at least one of the teams had less than four players, you must present the replay. (For example if someone was afk for a total of 5 minutes or more, but didn't get booted, so it looked as if game status was 4v5 instead of 3v5 in the screenshot presented in the banrequest.)
    • "I didn't think anyone would report me for this" is NOT an acceptable excuse for not having any evidence! We recommend enabling the replay autosave feature, that way you'll be sure to at least always have the replay!
    • The more times you've been banned, the harder it will be for you to get unbanned. If you have a very poor ban history, you might not get unbanned even if you present valid evidence! If you for some reason aren't able to present any evidence at all, only an almost perfectly clean ban history will save you!
    • If you attempt to trick EHLR moderators with lies or fake evidence you will get banned, alternatively get your penalty increased if you are already banned.
    • Keep your evidence for as long time as long as possible! We do not want users to wait with their banrequests, but some users do that anyway. There is always a risk that someone will report you several days or even several weeks after the game was played. We do not allow that, but you can't expect to be safe from late reports, because it is almost impossible for us to determine when a game was played.

Afking/idling is banable in the following situations:

*bannable (or just reword it to 'you will be banned for afk/idling in the following situations)

Backdooring is not allowed

+creeps which are not following their assigned path do not count as 'creep waves'

If you have started attacking a building you may continue attacking it as long as you don't leave the area immediately next to the building, even if all your creeps have perished.

+define 'immediately'

Manually or automatically changes any .dll file

*just say any file in the warcraft/garena directory. -> not only .dlls are edited.

Finally... seriously. The whole proving your innocence part is an eyesore. There are a couple of good tips in there like 'When you get the error message, do NOT press any of the options on the message!' but apart from that its pretty much all 'save the replay and take screen shots' But apart from that its repetition and repetition and repetition. I mean I literally can't read it all the way through because its so long winded...

Also finally >_> there are a few spelling mistakes and grammar issues etc but I'm sure they'll be fixed for the final draft.

Triple finally - are we going to add something about creep blocking? Defining bug abuse?

I guess the whole proving your innocence part can be put in the how to post correct unban request thread and keep the link to that thread only.
Although I personally don't find any of the advices useless. It's required to be moderator in unban section to fully understand the need of such tips

About bannable + grammar errors - everybody who has better english than me is wellcome to rewrite the rules, using more appropriate and natural language. This obviously is not the final version of the rules, which will be posted in the fairplay forum

About creepblocking - i personally i'm not fully convinced that it should be bannable, except in the case mb of furion. Mb we can discuss if we have to forbid it

Bug abusing - i think it's clear enough - every dota version has some bugs, especially if it's new. Also from what I hear there are some old bugs that have been existing for years. This rule is reffering to exploing any existing bug and any future bug that can be found in the future versions. Don't know how we can be more specific here.

About hacks - I don't know very good how new hacks work and I don't have to try to figure it out. Is there any hack that changes other files in wc3 except the stated ?
About the garena cracks - added

All of this can be reworded to something along the lines of 'If you get a Garena/Warcraft error, make sure to take screen shots of the error message along with any possible timestamp (system clock etc) and in the case of a Garena error, the 'You have been disconnected' screen. Ensure you do not click any of the options the error message gives you, as this may cause further crashes and destroy any evidence you may have.'

This is what I mean about it being long winded... 3 points which can be summarised in a few lines. It can be done with most of the points in the proving your innocence section.

Yep I'll have a look through later on after we've done the final draft to clean it up if you'd like.

Creep blocking yea, I know it is a point of contention. We need a group discussion/public poll or some form of vote.

About bug abusing, creep blocking is part of this in my opinion, along with slark's leap, potm's arrow (both to do with the edge of the map) -> the main thing is INTENTIONAL bug abusing. Some people can't tell the difference between a bug and a part of the game.

I'm not entirely sure how the most recent hacks work, so we need to do some more research into it (previously, it used to be an edit of the .mpq file but now it seems that they are using .dlls and other forms of injection)

Edit: just thought of something I'd like adding. If someone is booted for afk at the start of the game (they joined, didn't pick a hero, didn't say anything etc.) then the team without that player should have the choice to remake because it tends to run over the 7 minutes set by the rules.

Rules discussion thread Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rules discussion thread   Rules discussion thread EmptyTue Apr 19, 2011 4:25 am

so for all those who couldnt access fairplay mod conf:
1. Leaving is not allowed when game status is 5v5, 4v5, or 4v4.
Rule #1 applies regardless of what the situation in the game is and regardless of how short or how long the game has lasted.
Someone who has been afk/idle for a total of 5 minutes or more counts as leaver when determining game status, but remember that you might need to save the replay to prove it!
Rule #1 is the ONLY rule that does not apply in game status other than5v5, 4v5 and 4v4. If game status is something else and you do not wish to continue playing , LEAVE.
You may leave a game if game status is other than 5v5 and has lasted no longer than 7 minutes (scoreboard time).

2. Remaking
At any time during a game you can vote to remake/cancel a game. In order to remake/leave the game, the majority of all players must agree, including those in the opposite team.
Only users who confirm that they wish to remake/cancel the game count. Users who do not reply count as having voted to play on.
If you remake/leave a game after a voting, you MUST save the replay in order to be able to prove that the majority of all players agreed, otherwise you will get banned if someone reports you!
The host of a game counts as normal player such as any other player.

3. Afking/Idling is not allowed
Afking/Idling for a total of 5 minutes or more is bannable, regardless of what the situation in the game is and regardless of how small your chance of winning is. You MUST keep playing to the best of your ability until the endgame scoreboard appears!
Idling means to stand still with your hero, or to move around in your base (or anywhere else) without doing anything to help your team.
If you have an emergency that forces you to go afk, make sure to tell both teams what is going on and when they might expect you to return. Make sure to save the replay in ANY case to avoid getting banned.
If you for some reason have to be afk, do not move around with your hero to avoid being booted. It's up to your teammates if they wish to wait for your return or not. You cannot avoid ban by "dodging" the afk timer.

4. Backdooring is not allowed
Backdooring only counts for buildings, including towers.
If you want to attack the towers outside base, you must approach those towers with a friendly creep wave for each individual tower. You are for example not allowed to attack the first tower on the bottom lane without creep support, even if a friendly creep wave has entered the enemy base at another lane.
You may only start attacking buildings in a base, if creeps are inside base, i.e. at least entered one ramp to enemy base. Once in base this way with your hero you may stay as long as you like or survive. You may run into the enemy base at any time, for example to hunt a hero down.
If all your creep support is gone and you leave the base/building, you must wait for a new friendly creep wave before you may attack it again.
Player-controlled creeps do NOT count as creep-support.
You may attack deniable towers (below 10% health) at any time.

5. Purposeful game ruining is not allowed.
Everything with the intention of helping your enemies or purposefully worsen your team's chances to win counts as gameruin and is not allowed, thus will result in a ban.

6. Bug abusing is not allowed

7. Using hacks is strictly prohibited
Usage of any hack (such as MapHack, CooldownHack, GoldHack, any other game affecting hack, DropHack, LagHack, namespoofer, etc.) will result in a one year ban from all EUHLRs. Same for inofficial versions of Garena (cracked version / Garena hack etcetera).
Using IconHack will result in 10 days ban from all EHLRs.
Posting links to hacks or other fraudulent content will result in 30 days ban from all EHLRs.

8. Host bots are not allowed

9. Mainchat of Garena: English, don't spam, flood or insult others
In the Europe Dota High Level Rooms we speak English in the main chat. All other languages might result in kick/ban.
Spamming/flooding includes (but is not limited to) posting empty messages, senseless letter combination or repeating the same phrase more than two times and also might lead to kick/ban.

10. Disrespectful behaviour is not allowed
You must respect everybody, regardless of their nationality, gender, age or any other classifications.
You are not allowed to insult other users for any reason whatsoever. It does not matter how bad you might think someone plays, do NOT flame!

11. Leaver Items
When someone leaves a game, the items of his hero might be divided upon the remaining players, but only if all remaining teammembers agree with it.
If you want to take an item from a leaver, you must first ask your teammates for permission. You must wait at least 30 seconds to give your allies the chance to answer. If you have not received any answer or only affirmative answers within those 30 seconds you are free to take the asked for item(s).
They may as well be kept on the leaver's hero for whatever reason, but also only if all teammembers agree with it.
If neither of the two options mentioned can be agreed upon, the leaver's items have to be team sold, so every remaining teammember profits by the money.

12. Proving your innocence
For whatever situation, we totally recommend activating the "autosave replay" function of your WarCraft3, which saves EVERY replay of every game you played.
To prove your innocence you will most likely need the replay of the corresponding game.
Often when you disconnect or have a Garena crash you won't be able to save the replay manually, but it will always be automatically saved as lastreplay.w3g unless your pc shuts down in the middle of the game. Therefore, if you aren't able to save the replay manually, you should go to your Warcraft III folder and rename the lastreplay.w3g file to something else so that it doesn't get overwritten the next time you play.
If you disconnect, you must take a screenshot of the "you have been disconnected" message.

I will work those rules out a little bit better, gaser did some pretty good suggestions that I want to go through.

as we can "promote" the newcomers in here, what about moving this to mod conf? cya later in "edit"

Edit: slight changes in "BD" and changed order, RMK is now #2, as I think it belongs to #1

https://edhlr.canadaboard.net/t23727-forum-rules-discussion-thread#57803

Here I wrote about making rules shorter.

Eunique, seriously, please use [list] tags or at least paragraphs and add some colours on the innovative parts of your suggestion.
It's hell of work to see what you changed and when time comes to finally determine the new aspect of the rules someone(me or odoaker) will have to waste hours trying to merge the badly written proposals

Thanks for understanding

About making rules shorter: you didnt clearly state nothing. "Host bots are not allowed" for example states it very plain and clear. We dont have to argue with users who violate simple rules. We dont have to explain single situations, that is my point. If we start with that shit, soon we will see that we only got about 70% of all possibilities. Then we will have to add the others as users will come and say "THAT WAS NOT MENTIONED PARTICULARLY!!!!". see the texture removal cases.

You totally missed my point if you think it is a massive try to shorten rules. I want to clarify them, and clarify only. But ffs, you know pretty well what the average age and attention span of our users is! FIVE pages of "save the replay", "take SSs", "better save replay", "HACK A is fobidden", "we suggest to save the replay", "it is recommended to save every replay", "you HAVE to take a SS", "HACK B is not allowed", "maybe activate autosave function" and so on...

I did not change any rules, for now I just shortened them. about marking rules I edited: I think there is no paragraph I did not change. What is more important imo: I worked with those who are interested in it together, so for now there is only one proposal. It takes you hours to figure out what has been changed? It took me hours to change it, and now all I want is you to check if something is missing. Go through our proposal and check if you really think that we have to explain singular cases more clearly.

I didnt get you wrong with what you said
Quote :
and then people like you will come and say "wee wee wee", so we will have to add it.
, but I never did that. All I did was a clear statement: in our old rules afking is bannable. no time stated. you then came with all your glory and told us to re-read the rules, which you had not done then, we had though.

Our desire is clear rules, as short as possible, as that means they are easier to get then. of course we dont want to make them too short, we still want them to be clear and "user-friendly" (it's a 1 to 1 translation from German, no idea if existent)

So for now: EVERYONE shall participate in our proposal, at least a "I agree", so we know people like it. or tell us where you think smth might be missing. if you cannot clearly say, which part lacks in smth, then you dont need to know what I changed. you dont have to double check what I changed, I didnt change any rules, I just shortened them, gareth and gaser were very helpful and no one else was interested.

Wall of text? well, still way shorter than our rules and THIS time I didnt repeat myself that much.

colour your mom, I used paragraphs all the time, about the list thingy: you are a mod, you are way smarter and more experienced than our users, if you dont get through my improved version, then dont come up with crap like "we need to double the size without adding anything!".

  • Leaving is not allowed when game status is 5v5, 4v5, or 4v4.

    • Rule #1 applies regardless of what the situation in the game is and regardless of how short or how long the game has lasted.
Someone who has been afk/idle for a total of 5 minutes or more counts as leaver when determining game status, but remember that you might need to save the replay to prove it!
    • Rule #1 is the ONLY rule that does not apply in game status other than5v5, 4v5 and 4v4. If game status is something else and you do not wish to continue playing , LEAVE.
You may leave a game if game status is other than 5v5 and has lasted no longer than 7 minutes (scoreboard time).

  • Remaking

    • At any time during a game you can vote to remake/cancel a game. In order to remake/leave the game, the majority of all players must agree, including those in the opposite team.
    • Only users who confirm that they wish to remake/cancel the game count. Users who do not reply count as having voted to play on.
    • If you remake/leave a game after a voting, you MUST save the replay in order to be able to prove that the majority of all players agreed, otherwise you will get banned if someone reports you!
    • The host of a game counts as normal player such as any other player.

  • Afking/Idling is not allowed

    • Afking/Idling for a total of 5 minutes or more is bannable, regardless of what the situation in the game is and regardless of how small your chance of winning is. You MUST keep playing to the best of your ability until the endgame scoreboard appears!
    • Idling means to stand still with your hero, or to move around in your base (or anywhere else) without doing anything to help your team.
    • If you have an emergency that forces you to go afk, make sure to tell both teams what is going on and when they might expect you to return. Make sure to save the replay in ANY case to avoid getting banned.
    • If you for some reason have to be afk, do not move around with your hero to avoid being booted. It's up to your teammates if they wish to wait for your return or not. You cannot avoid ban by "dodging" the afk timer.

  • Backdooring is not allowed

  • Backdooring only counts for buildings, including towers.

    • If you want to attack the towers outside base, you must approach those towers with a friendly creep wave for each individual tower. You are for example not allowed to attack the first tower on the bottom lane without creep support, even if a friendly creep wave has entered the enemy base at another lane.
    • You may only start attacking buildings in a base, if creeps are inside base, i.e. at least entered one ramp to enemy base. Once in base this way with your hero you may stay as long as you like or survive. You may run into the enemy base at any time, for example to hunt a hero down.
    • If all your creep support is gone and you leave the base/building, you must wait for a new friendly creep wave before you may attack it again.
    • Player-controlled creeps do NOT count as creep-support.
    • You may attack deniable towers (below 10% health) at any time.

  • Purposeful game ruining is not allowed.
    • Everything with the intention of helping your enemies or purposefully worsen your team's chances to win counts as gameruin and is not allowed, thus will result in a ban.

  • Bug abusing is not allowed

  • Using hacks is strictly prohibited
    • Usage of any hack (such as MapHack, CooldownHack, GoldHack, any other game affecting hack, DropHack, LagHack, namespoofer, etc.) will result in a one year ban from all EUHLRs. Same for inofficial versions of Garena (cracked version / Garena hack etcetera).
    • Using IconHack will result in 10 days ban from all EHLRs.
    • Posting links to hacks or other fraudulent content will result in 30 days ban from all EHLRs.

  • Host bots are not allowed

  • Mainchat of Garena: English, don't spam, flood or insult others
    • In the Europe Dota High Level Rooms we speak English in the main chat. All other languages might result in kick/ban.
Spamming/flooding includes (but is not limited to) posting empty messages, senseless letter combination or repeating the same phrase more than two times and also might lead to kick/ban.

  • Disrespectful behaviour is not allowed
    • You must respect everybody, regardless of their nationality, gender, age or any other classifications.
    • You are not allowed to insult other users for any reason whatsoever. It does not matter how bad you might think someone plays, do NOT flame!

  • Leaver Items
    • When someone leaves a game, the items of his hero might be divided upon the remaining players, but only if all remaining teammembers agree with it.
    • If you want to take an item from a leaver, you must first ask your teammates for permission. You must wait at least 30 seconds to give your allies the chance to answer. If you have not received any answer or only affirmative answers within those 30 seconds you are free to take the asked for item(s).
    • They may as well be kept on the leaver's hero for whatever reason, but also only if all teammembers agree with it.
    • If neither of the two options mentioned can be agreed upon, the leaver's items have to be team sold, so every remaining teammember profits by the money.

  • Proving your innocence
    • For whatever situation, we totally recommend to activate the "autosave replay" function of your WarCraft3, which saves EVERY replay of every game you played.
    • To prove your innocence you will most likely need the replay of the corresponding game.
    • Often when you disconnect or have a Garena crash you won't be able to save the replay manually, but it will always be automatically saved as lastreplay.w3g unless your pc shuts down in the middle of the game.
    • Therefore, if you aren't able to save the replay manually, you should go to your Warcraft III folder and rename the lastreplay.w3g file to something else so that it doesn't get overwritten the next time you play.
    • If you disconnect, you must take a screenshot of the "you have been disconnected" message.

Your rules are 4 pages long when written how they should be, the original rules are 5. The difference is very small.
But we will see what can be written with less words, that's for sure

I feel that the rules posted by Eunique are a little more clear and easier to read. I would like to hear your opinion about creep-blocking , especially furion`s sprout which i don`t consider to be a bug abusing

i don't think that creepblocking with spells(fissure, sprout) should be considered as a bug abusing. Choosing this way of action has benefits and disavantages. For example if you block the creeps with fissure in your lane and they go in the other lane or by the neutral creeps(happens when you are Sentinel and block the bottom lane), if you lose the whole wave or just a part of it, this way you will lose the lane tower faster+you lose mana. It is up to you anyway...
Maybe you should give an advice for the users to autosave all the games they play. Every single replay might be useful somehow.
As I mentioned the other rules look clear.

and again to the "shortened rules": 5 to 4 pages means 20% off. not bad imo. besides that I dont get your "written how they should be". I copied the old rules, pasted them in a word document, that had 5 pages. I edited them, saved the word document and it now has 2 pages, same format as before. I think 60% off without missing anything is a straight improvement.

about the creep blocking: I am not well aware of the WC3 machine neither of the gameplay in total (in toto), but I rely pretty much on gareth here, as I think he is the most experienced in this matter. as he is also second best in english aswell, after me ofc, I would ask him to make a proposal which we coult integrate into the rules. as that would be a definite rulechange we might want to make an official poll about that then.

besides: is there anything else than furion's sprout? fissure makes them chose another path, but they dont stop, do they? it is a tricky thing, as it is no bug, it is smth else, as gaz explained to me. and still we dont want it, yet cannot ban it.

PostSubject: Re: Rules discussion thread   Rules discussion thread EmptyWed Apr 20, 2011 12:33 pm

ok here we go.first point is the AFK rule. i would suggest to change it this:

Afking is not allowed, no matter what the afk counter says. if you dont participate in the game more then 5 minutes = ban.
dodging the afk counter by moving arround will result in a longerb an duration then normal afking/leaving.

And now to an idea which shall improve the short rules issue.we do it like this:
we create a thread with a post where it only says:

Leaving is not allowed when game status is 5v5, 4v5, or 4v4. More Information
Afking/Idling is not allowed. More Information
Backdooring is not allowed More Information

ok, now we create a new post for every point in this, and describe the detailed rules. "more informatin" shall represent the link to the post!
for example if i click "more information" behind "leaving is not allowed..." i will be redirected to a post in the thread saying this:

Rule #1 applies regardless of what the situation in the game is and regardless of how short or how long the game has lasted. Even if you leave only a few seconds before the game ends, you will get banned!
and so on....

this will give us a really good structurated rule list which is really easy to read by everyone!
of course we can add a post with "all rules detailed" to give the possibility to read the rules w/o clicking somewhere every 1-2 minutes.

this idea is pretty good, I wouldnt make it like in your example, as I think some explanation should be given in the rule itself, but the details can be split out. nice idea, thanks for telling!

I have read the rules over and over again and i dont think we have to change that much. what i want to change:

5. Bug abusing is not allowed -> INTENTIONAL bug abusing is not allowed

9.2. Do not announce your game more often than once every minute! ->everyone is doing that...even mods. and we can delete that anyway, because spamming is already explained in 9.1

12. well i want to change it, but since we already made a poll about it...lets keep the rule

about the creep block thing: i agree with soloxpls. as long as you dont intentionally block (allied) heroes (e.g. fissure), i think its legitimate to use spells like sprout to block the creeps.

The thing with creep blocking is that it is a feature (read:malfunction) of the engine rather than a 'bug'.

Creeps are programmed to follow a set path.

Blocking with fissure/sprout literally confuses the AI and breaks the pathing. Sprout can actually halt the creeps, as can fissure occasionally.

There have been previous bugs with pathing (being able to block whole waves with sentry wards, axe taking rosh away from pathing at level 1) which IceFrog has managed to find work arounds and 'fixes' for.

Its generally banned in leagues and tournaments because it upsets the game equilibrium beyond the point of blocking with your hero model (simply slowing the creep wave, not breaking it from the set path).

Again: I suggest we add something along the lines of 'creeps not following their normal path do not count as a wave when determining BD' seeing as you can theoretically control where creeps go with some careful blocking (and some luck). This can lead to the following, where Sentinel have a free run into the Scourge base, whilst the Scourge creeps are following their normal path towards the towers.

a lil add to the sprout. if u play against a furion who did this, then you lose the exp of a whole creep wave!
and this is no skill anymore or something, its just cheating in my eyes, because u cant do anything about it if you are playing vs furion...

in my opinion we need the "dont block creeps with spells" part in the rules!

neff, nabbo. you were the guy who first showed me that "afking is bannable" nowhere mentions "how long exactly". I told you it was 5 minutes and you showed me I was wrong and it doesnt clearly state it. and now you say things are clear.... Razz:P:P

I think in any case rules are way too long, so that should be fixed. some things also are not clear, others are explained like 10 times without any need to even be mentioned once.
to shorten rules by 50% without actually taking away anything just makes it easier to all users to understand them.

about the rule-changes: maybe we should first get the clarification done. Although I guess it doenst matter how we do it, not enough people care. its a pitty. dodo, yavor? some of the newcomers? this was a lot of work and it is not done yet. I am fine with doing it alone, but I cannot and must not. I/we need your help to know if you guys are ok with it and also it is pretty helpful, because 15 brains work better than 3. especially when those three encase mine.

Very Happy

I don't think it's possible to make more alterations to the rules , because if we keep removing explanatory information , things will start to get baffling for users.

All in all , the version of eunique is way better and easier to read than the old one.All we need to discuss about is the problem with creep blocking and fissure/sprout because a new rule has to be implemented for that.
